Two in One - AutoStore® & Conveyor Technology in Use for Last Mile Logistics

Microfulfillment involves the lightning-fast delivery of consumer goods through smaller logistics centers located close to cities.
As a pioneer of this megatrend, we were able to win a first project in Germany for a beverage and food supplier. Using the proven CubeStorage system AutoStore®, around 20,000 containers will be managed fully automatically from mid-2023.

For further expansion, a new logistics center is being built at the headquarters in Matrei, East Tyrol. In the first construction stage, an innovative AutoStore® small parts warehouse is being built. Due to the very positive development of the online concept, SportOkay.com is investing in a new logistics centre with a fully automated small parts warehouse to serve as a central picking system. Hörmann Logistik's AutoStore® concept convinced all along the line and won the contract.

Third extension for the refrigerated cheese specialties in the AutoStore® system with multi-order picking at Heiderbeck in Olching.

Heiderbeck GmbH in Olching, Bavaria, is a successful sales company in the German market for high-quality cheese specialties and refrigerated delicatessen products. Hardly any other German cheese specialist marketer has such an extensive and qualified cheese assortment. In the adjacent, modern delicatessen outlet, visitors can sample international cheese and delicatessen specialties to their heart's content on an area of around 80 square meters and be inspired. For the storage of cheese specialties, HÖRMANN Intralogistics has set up an AutoStore® system with the customized warehouse management system HiLIS AS and multi-order picking stations in an existing refrigerated warehouse, which is now already in its third expansion stage. So - off to Olching to taste the cheese!

AutoStore® system for Becker Schoell AG - Pet food

In order to optimize the existing intralogistics processes, PROLOG-TEAM Logistik- und Organisationsberatung was commissioned by Becker Schoell to develop an optimal overall concept and to implement it during ongoing operations. Based on the developed overall concept and a broad market tender, HÖRMANN Logistik GmbH was selected as the general contractor and commissioned to carry out several plant simulations for this sub-project in order to make the AutoStore® system configuration ideal and future-oriented.

HÖRMANN Logistik announces partnership with StrongPoint

HÖRMANN Logistik has signed an agreement with StrongPoint ASA, a leading food retail company, to offer food retailers AutoStore® micro-fulfillment solutions in the combined DACH, Scandinavia and Baltic regions.

This will provide StrongPoint's food retail customers in the Nordic and Baltic countries with additional implementation support from HÖRMANN Logistik. StrongPoint supports HÖRMANN Logistik with food retail expertise for customized micro-fulfillment implementations in the DACH region.

HÖRMANN Logistik has been an AutoStore® distributor since 2013 and has implemented more than 35 AutoStore® solutions in Germany and Austria. StrongPoint became a distributor of AutoStore® micro-fulfillment solutions in Scandinavia and the Baltics in 2021 with a focus on food retail.

For the storage and order picking of small parts, HÖRMANN Logistik is setting up an AutoStore® system with a customized warehouse management system HiLIS AS in an existing warehouse at the Leingarten site.

New automated high-bay warehouse built in Durtal, France

HÖRMANN Logistik designs and supplies an automated high-bay warehouse for the packaging manufacturer DS Smith. With innovative strength and commitment, the British company is pursuing its goal of reducing international deforestation through paper recycling.

Around 30,000 employees work for DS Smith in 30 countries. A new two-aisle high-bay warehouse for corrugated sheetboards is built  at the French site in Durtal on the Loire River. The project is planned and implemented by Hörmann Logistik. The start of operations is scheduled by the beginning of 2022.

HÖRMANN equips the new eurotrade logistics hall at Munich Airport with an automatic small parts warehouse

A new logistics hall was built at Munich Airport for the storage of gift articles, food, hygiene articles and spare parts. As general contractor, HÖRMANN Logistik built a 4-aisle automated small parts warehouse with an upstream conveyor loop. Four picking stations and two goods receiving stations are connected to the loop. The automatic small parts warehouse provides the store items to the eurotrade trading areas by means of efficient material flow and order picking processes.

High-bay warehouse for 25,000 Euro pallets with conveyor technology for Biohort

Biohort GmbH from Neufelden (Austria) is the European market leader in metal storage solutions. The product portfolio includes high-quality tool sheds, practical outdoor storage boxes and useful items for the garden, such as raised beds. Biohort products are manufactured 100% in Austria by around 400 employees. For years Biohort has been growing continuously in the double-digit percentage range. To sustain this growth, a new main plant including production and logistics is built. In order to keep the built-up area as small and efficient as possible, a fully automated high-bay warehouse (HRL) was also chosen. Planning and realization of the 4-aisle high-bay warehouse for the storage of finished goods, semi-finished products, raw materials and consumables was carried out by HÖRMANN Logistik. The same applies to the connected pallet conveyor system for production and order picking. The new plant is to become the most modern thin sheet processing plant in Austria.

At the Leoben site, the headquarter of the corporate group, a modern, cutting-edge intralogistics solution with an automated, 3-aisle high-bay warehouse with conveyor systems, packaging and shipping zones will be deployed. HÖRMANN Logistik developed a sophisticsted concept based on the specifications of the planning specialist Xvise. On this basis, HÖRMANN Logistik was awarded general contractor for delivery of this custom intralogistics solution.

For more than 125 years, Richter + Frenzel has been the specialist for sanitary and domestic engineering. More than 4,200 employees at 180 locations in Germany provide competent advice and planning with products from over 1,800 manufacturers. At the Reichertshofen location, a new central logistics centre was built from which R+F supplies branches and the trade nationwide. The central element in this new building is a fully automated warehouse solution for the storage and picking of small parts. With its intralogistics concept, which includes an AutoStore® small parts warehouse with connected conveyor technology for order picking and palletizing, Hörmann Logistik was convincing and was awarded the contract to implement the system.

At the headquarters in Bedburg, in their role as general contractor Hörmann Logistik is building an AutoStore small parts warehouse with two connected carousel workstations in an existing storage hall.

Construction of a new high-bay warehouse, process optimization and replacement of conveyor technology at B. Braun

B. Braun is one of the world's leading providers and manufacturers of healthcare solutions today. Every service that B. The range comprises 5,000 products, 95 percent of which are produced in-house.

At the Berlin site, the existing high-bay warehouse (HRL) is to be extended by two aisles and the current conveyor technology is to be replaced. With a tailor-made optimisation concept, Hörmann Logistik received the order for realisation in two construction phases as general contractor.

For more than 120 years Richter + Frenzel has been the wholesale specialist for sanitary and building technology. 3,500 employees at 170 locations in Germany guarantee competent consultancy and planning with products from over 1,800 manufacturers. The new logistics centre at the Reichertshofen site supplies the company's branches and craft businesses. For more than 55 years, Michael Pentz GmbH & Co Spannelemente KG in Illertissen has been manufacturing clamping bushes and dowel pins in standard and customer-specific dimensions for its international customers from the construction equipment, agricultural machinery, materials handling and mechanical engineering industries.

The Pentz company erects a new warehouse for finished parts at its headquarters. Hörmann Logistik realises the AutoStore® system as general contractor in an existing hall. All workstations at the new AutoStore® warehouse enable both goods receipt and picking.

AutoStore® small parts warehouse for the Leebmann24 online shop in Passau

Since 1926, the family-run Leebmann Group has specialised in the car brands BMW and Mini as well as four motorcycle brands. In four stationary shops, the customer-oriented company offers new and used vehicles as well as a wide range of services. The online shop www.leebmann24.de covers corresponding accessories, spare parts and care products.

Hörmann Logistik realizes an AutoStore® warehouse for car and motorcycle accessories and small spare parts at the Leebmann company headquarters in Passau. An existing hall is available for the integration of the new warehouse. From there, goods receipts or picking will take place at every workstation in the future. Leebmann chose Hörmann Logistik as general contractor and the AutoStore® system because of its compact dimensions, high efficiency and optimal orientation towards e-commerce.

New, fully automatic high-bay warehouse for Prowell in Eisfeld

In its core business, Prowell produces corrugated cardboard formats on the world's fastest high-tech plants. Its own paper production and service companies ensure process optimisation at 12 European sites. In Eisfeld, Thuringia, Prowell erects a new plant for production, storage and dispatch of corrugated boards. Adjacent to the production and finishing lines, a three-aisle, fully automatic high-bay warehouse takes shape there as well. As the general contractor, Hörmann Logistik has received the essential trades for the realisation of this high-bay racking system.

Neues, vollautomatisches Hochregallager bei Progroup, England

Mit Hightech-Anlagen, die weltweit zu den schnellsten zählen, produziert Progroup im Kerngeschäft Wellpappformate. Eine eigene Papierproduktion und eigene Dienstleistungsgesellschaften leisten Prozessoptimierung an 12 Standorten in Europa.

In Ellesmere Port, Großbritannien errichtet Progroup ein neues Werk zur Produktion, Lagerung und Versand von Wellpappformaten. Im Anschluss an die Wellpappanlage und Ausrüstungslinien entsteht dort auch ein viergassiges, vollautomatisches Hochregallager.

HÖRMANN Logistik hat als Generalunternehmer den Auftrag zur Realisierung dieser Hochregalanlage erhalten.

Automatisches Kleinteilelager für Codico in Perchtoldsdorf, Österreich

Die Codico Holding GmbH hat sich auf den Vertrieb hochwertiger elektronischer Bauelemente in den Bereichen Aktive und Passive Bauelemente sowie Verbindungstechnik spezialisiert. Das 1977 gegründete Unternehmen agiert mit 168 Mitarbeitern in zehn Ländern. Am österreichischen Headquarter in Perchtoldsdorf im Süden Wiens entsteht ein neues, automatisches Kleinteilelager (AKL) mit Behälterfördertechnik zur Lagerung und Kommissionierung von Elektronikbauteilen. HÖRMANN Logistik hat als Generalunternehmer den Auftrag zur Realisierung erhalten.

Fertigstellung Hochregallager 2 bei FUCHS LUBRITECH in Kaiserslautern

FUCHS LUBRITECH zählt zu den weltweit führenden Produzenten von Spezialschmierstoffen und Trennmitteln für alle industriellen Anwendungsbereiche, von der Automobilindustrie und der Bauwirtschaft bis zur Lebensmittelproduktion und der Zementindustrie.

Das Angebot umfasst Betontrennmittel, Haftschmierstoffe, Schmierflüssigkeiten und -fette, Pasten, Gleitlacke, Glasbearbeitungsmedien sowie Umformschmierstoffe und Wartungsprodukte – insgesamt mehr als 1.000 Spezialprodukte, die exakt auf den jeweiligen Einsatzzweck abgestimmt sind.

Am Hauptsitz in Kaiserslautern hat HÖRMANN Logistik bereits 2009 ein dreigassiges automatisches Hochregallager (HRL 1) errichtet. Im Zuge der Betriebserweiterung entstand neben der bestehenden Anlage ein neues dreigassiges Hochregallager (HRL 2), das ebenfalls an die Produktion, die Kommissionierung, den Wareneingang sowie das HRL 1 angeschlossen ist.

HÖRMANN Logistik hat dieses neue Hochregallager ebenfalls als Generalunternehmer realisiert.

Hochregallagererweiterung bei Schumacher Packaging in Greven

Als inhabergeführter, europaweit agierender Spezialist für Verpackungen aus Well- und Vollpappe bietet Schumacher Packaging ein äußerst breites Spektrum an Größen, Drucktechniken und Veredelungen. Durch neu gegründete Produktionsstätten und durch die Übernahme bestehender Werke ist Schumacher Packaging in den letzten Jahren kontinuierlich gewachsen.

Am erst  2014 eröffneten Werk im AirportPark FMO in Greven, Nordrhein-Westfalen, verdoppelt der Verpackungsspezialist jetzt seine Fertigungs- und Lagerkapazitäten. HÖRMANN Logistik hat den Auftrag erhalten, das bestehende Hochregallager um ein zweigassiges Kanallager zu erweitern.

Erweiterung des Hochregallagers für Bischof + Klein im bayerischen Konzell

Die Bischof + Klein SE & Co. KG ist einer der führenden Komplettanbieter für flexible Verpackungen und technische Folien. An den sechs Produktionsstandorten in Deutschland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Polen und Saudi-Arabien werden hochwertige flexible Verpackungen aus Kunststoff und Kunststoffverbunden sowie technische Folien für fast jede Anwendung hergestellt.

Am Produktionsstandort im bayerischen Konzell realisierte HÖRMANN Logistik 2015 als Generalunternehmer ein zweigassiges Hochregallager für die Lagerung von Folienrollen als Produktionspuffer. Jetzt wurde HÖRMANN Logistik beauftragt, dieses Lager durch eine Verlängerung der beiden Gassen mit unveränderten Fachabmessungen zu erweitern.

Robert Heinz übernimmt die Leitung des Kompetenzcenter AutoStore® bei HÖRMANN Logistik

Bereits seit September 2016 betreut der Betriebswirtschaftler Robert Heinz (48) bei dem Münchner Intralogistik-Spezialisten die AutoStore® Aktivitäten. Jetzt hat er die neu geschaffene Position des Leiters Kompetenzcenter AutoStore® übernommen und ist so zentraler Ansprechpartner für den Lizenzpartner sowie alle Projektanfragen und Projektrealisierungen.

HÖRMANN Logistik war Ende 2013 Distributionspartner für AutoStore® in Deutschland geworden und hat seitdem erfolgreich zahlreiche AutoStore® Kleinteilelagerlösungen geplant und realisiert. Mit den implementierten Systemen z.B. bei Theegarten, Novopress, SommerCable und Heller sowie aktuellen Montagen z.B. bei SportOkay, Esders und LYSEL hat sich das Segment so erfolgreich entwickelt, dass inzwischen von den HÖRMANN Logistik IT-Entwicklern auch eine spezifisch angepasste Lagerverwaltungssoftware HiLIS AS aufgesetzt wurde.

Robert Heinz ist in seiner neuen Führungsposition auch für die Planung und Steuerung der Mitarbeitereinsätze, die Betreuung von Key-Kunden sowie für begleitende Marketingund Akquisemaßnahmen zuständig.

AutoStore® Kleinteilelager für Tochter der Window Fashion AG in Plauen

LYSEL®, die europäische Tochter der in der Schweiz ansässigen Window Fashion AG, bietet Sonnenschutzlösungen nach Maß und fertig konfektionierte Fensterdekoration an. Für die Lagerung und Kommissionierung des Artikelsortiments für www.heimtextilien.com und andere Kunden aus dem Bereich Onlinehandel soll am Standort der Außenstelle Deutschland in Plauen in einer bestehenden Lagerhalle ein AutoStore® Kleinteilelager errichtet werden.

HÖRMANN Logistik hat den Auftrag für die Realisierung dieses automatischen Kleinteilelagers erhalten.

Für die maßgeschneiderte Auslegung des AutoStore®-Systems wurden bei der Planung von HÖRMANN Logistik mehrere Anlagensimulationen durchgeführt. Die Kundenanforderungen der Window Fashion AG und LYSEL® führten zusammen mit den Simulationsergebnissen zu einer Systemkonfiguration mit ca. 2.000 Behältern der Größe 649 mm x 449 mm x 330 mm (L x B x H) auf 12 Ebenen. 2 Roboter mit 2 Roboter-Ladestationen sorgen für die Ein- und Auslagerung der Artikel, die den  Carousel-Port (Wareneingang und Kommissionierung) bedienen.

Für eine Erweiterung auf ca. 3.250 Behälter ist ein zusätzlicher Carousel-Port bereits eingeplant. Weitere Roboter können ebenfalls nach Bedarf implementiert werden.

Verlängerung eines zweigassigen Hochregallagers für Bischof + Klein in Konzell

Die Bischof + Klein GmbH & Co. KG ist einer der führenden Komplettanbieter für flexible Verpackungen und technische Folien. An den sechs Produktionsstandorten in Deutschland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Polen und Saudi-Arabien werden hochwertige flexible Verpackungen aus Kunststoff und Kunststoffverbunden sowie technische Folien für fast jede Anwendung hergestellt.

articles in 3D. The Alpine sports specialist supplies tens of thousands of satisfied customers in Germany, Austria, Italy and 15 other countries. Due to the very positive development of the online concept, SportOkay.com is investing in a new logistics centre with a fully automated small parts warehouse to serve as a central picking system. Hörmann Logistik's AutoStore® concept convinced all along the line and won the contract.

AutoStore® Kleinteilelager für die Esders GmbH im Emsland

Die Esders GmbH in Haselünne im Emsland hat sich seit 1989 auf die Entwicklung von Messgeräten, Software und Systemlösungen für den Gas-, Wasser- und Abwasserbereich spezialisiert. Die Leistungsschwerpunkte des erfolgreichen Familienunternehmens liegen auf Gasspürtechnik, Messtechnik für die Gasinneninstallation sowie Druckmesstechnik, Wasserleck-Ortung und Prüfsysteme für Gasmess- und Gaswarngeräte.

Am Unternehmensstandort in Haselünne soll in einer neuen Lagerhalle ein AutoStore® Kleinteilelager errichtet werden, in dem Teile für die Fertigung sowie Ersatzteile gelagert werden.

HÖRMANN Logistik hat den Auftrag für die Realisierung dieses automatischen Kleinteilelagers erhalten.

AutoStore® Kleinteilelager für die Pati Versand in Herzlake

Seit 2007 vertreibt der Pati-Versand professionelle Patisserie-Zutaten. Durch die rasant steigende Nachfrage nach qualitativ hochwertigen Lebensmitteln und Werkzeugen für die Schokoladenherstellung und Tortendekoration expandiert Pati-Versand immens. Heute ist Pati-Versand im Privatkundenbereich der größte Anbieter für Torten-, Pralinen- und Backzutaten sowie –Zubehör im deutschsprachigen Raum.

Dieses Wachstum erfordert eine komplette Neustrukturierung der internen Logistik. Zentrales Element in der Lagerhaltung und Kommissionierung wird ein AutoStore®-System von HÖRMANN Logistik.

Das System wurde maßgeschneidert nach den Anforderungen von Pati-Versand ausgelegt und die Leistung über Simulationen nachgewiesen. AutoStore®  besteht hier aus 25.000 Behältern, 32 Robotern und 8 Kommissionierports. Erweiterungsmöglichkeiten sind vorgesehen und können im laufenden Betrieb durchgeführt werden.

HÖRMANN Logistik mit eigenem Projekt Management Office

Anfang des Jahres 2018 wurde bei HÖRMANN Logistik ein Projekt Management Office (PMO) als zentrale Stabstelle in die Organisation eingeführt. Das Project Management Office ist die zentrale Stelle bei HÖRMANN Logistik zur Steuerung des Projektmanagements und zur Pflege des Projektmanagementsystems. Dabei unterstützt es alle Projekte und liefert Hilfsmittel wie Projektvorlagen, Standards und Richtlinien an alle Projektleiter.

Die Hauptaufgaben des PMO sind:

  • Sicherstellen von einheitlichen PM-Standards und Qualität
  • Operative Unterstützung der Projektleiter und Projektteams
  • Zentrale Koordination aller Projekte und Ressourcen
  • Steigerung der Effektivität und Effizienz
  • Coaching und Training rund ums Projektmanagements

Mit dieser neuen und zentralen Stelle investiert die HÖRMANN Logistik zusätzlich in die Qualität des Projektmanagements und seinen Mitarbeiter mit dem Ziel die bereits sehr hohe Kundenzufriedenheit zu toppen.

Bündelung aller AutoStore® Aktivitäten im Kompetenz Center AutoStore®

Um noch effektiver und zielgerichteter das steile Wachstum unseres AutoStore® Geschäftes zu gestalten, wurde im Januar 2018 das Kompetenz Center AutoStore® gegründet, in dem alle AutoStore® Aktivitäten vom Vertrieb, Marketing und der Realisierung gebündelt sind.

Robert Heinz hat die Leitung des Kompetenzcenters übernommen. Bereits seit September 2016 betreut er bei HÖRMANN Logistik die AutoStore® Aktivitäten und ist so zentraler Ansprechpartner für unsere Kunden sowie für alle Projektanfragen und Projektrealisierungen.

Seit Ende 2013 ist HÖRMANN Logistik Distributionspartner für AutoStore® in Deutschland und hat seitdem erfolgreich zahlreiche AutoStore®-Systeme geplant und realisiert. Das Geschäft hat sich so erfolgreich entwickelt, dass inzwischen von den IT-Entwicklern von HÖRMANN Logistik auch eine spezifische Lagerverwaltungssoftware namens HiLIS AS entwickelt und erfolgreich eingesetzt wurde.
